CAVE AND MINE EXPLORATION
THE NORTH PENNINES

The North Pennines has a wealth of mines that can be visited.  Carrs Mine at Nenthead and Park Level at Killhope
can be visited by tourists but there are many that are accessible to properly equipped cavers and mine explorers
however some are gated and can be accessed through special arrangement.  Please note that many of these mines
are on private land and permission should be obtained prior to visiting them.  There are also some natural caves
in the North Pennines, most notably Knock Fell Caverns and Hudgill Burn Mine Caverns which are very complex.
