BLACKDENE MINE

First worked in the early 19th century for lead by the Beaumont Company, Blackdene Mine near Ireshopeburn is now mostly collapsed and inaccessible.  Here we have an adit, collapsed only a few yards in leading to a line of stopes, the depressions of which can be seen on the hill above.  However there is an open stope which may be worth an extra look but a rope and access gear will be required.
