Killhope Lead Mining Museum

Not far from Nenthead is the North of England Lead Mining Museum at Killhope. This fully restored Victorian mining complex includes the Park Level Mine where visitors can enjoy a guided tour of the underground workings. Above ground you experience how miners and their families lived and worked. The Visitor Centre has on display miners' implements and minerals in Spar Boxes.
Nature trails and a café can also be enjoyed here. Killhope also offers accommodation in yurts.

The Museum is 1,500 feet (450 metres) above sea level and even in summer it can get cold so it is necessary to dress appropiately.

Open 11:00 - 17:00 from April 1st to October 31st.  Tickets are valid for 12 months.

The Museum is on the A689 Alston to Stanhope road,  OS Grid Reference NY825431
