WEARDALE

Weardale is one of the two main valleys that make up the North Pennines Area of Outstanding
Natural Beauty.  Like Teesdale and Alston Moor, Weardale is home to numerous lead, flourite
and other mines, many of which can still be explored.  At the very top end of Weardale is the
Killhope Mining Museum which includes a tourist mine.  Weardale is a hill farming area, typical
of this part of England but there is one town, Stanhope, which is plenty for the visitor to see.
